Aaron Bartels (Flight 1) and John Diclaro (Flight 2) won titles at the SNGA Net Short Game Championship held May 21, 2021, at a windswept Eagle Crest Golf Club. They won a trophy and confidence in the most important parts of the game. –By Bill Bowman, Las Vegas Golf Insider staff.
Aaron Bartels posted a net eagle on the 18th hole and recorded an even-par round to win Flight 1, his second SNGA title.
For Bartels, it was an up-and-down round as he had four birdies to go along with his eagle but also put four bogeys and a double bogey on the card.
“It was one of those days where you just keep grinding,” he said. “I had a nice par on the first hole and a double bogey on the second hole so there was some adversity early.”
But he kept his nose to the grindstone and closed out the win in style with the net eagle on the final hole.
“This was my first time playing the course and we had to wait on 18 tee,” he said. “I went up to check it out and I wound up hitting a 3-iron off the tee. I had a 50-yard chip and then I made about a 25-foot putt. It was three really nice shots to finish.”

John Diclaro had seven net birdies in his first 15 holes en route to a four-shot victory in Flight 2.
It was Diclaro’s second SNGA title, the previous one coming two years ago.
“I started out putting and chipping really well,” he said. “Those are the strong parts of my game so this course suits my game very well.”
He said it was nice to get back into the winner’s circle.
“I’ve come close….a few seconds and thirds,” he said. “But it is nice to finally win again. I started out very well on the first two holes and it really gave me confidence. I’m hoping to take that confidence to Reflection Bay. I’m really looking forward to that tournament.”
